Camp 2019
Camp Magnificat Community 2019
July 27-August 23, 2019
Paestum at the Camping Village Paestum****
Dear brothers,
Presenting our Community’s camp is not easy, because it is essentially an EXPERIENCE: you can describe it, tell its story, its contents, or collect some testimonies from those who lived it, but… the experience remains an event to be lived, and the story is inevitably partial, always missing something.
It is a unique experience of fraternal life
Those who experience community camping enjoy that time that is lacking in daily life: sharing life 24 hours a day with brothers for so many days; stopping to talk with the idea that it is five minutes and finding yourself after hours, with inner pleasure, enjoying that simple, profound, sometimes sympathetic or painful sharing… that makes you get in touch with the lives of brothers whom, because of time or distance, perhaps you would never have been able to know so closely, even during other community moments.
It is an experience of prayer life and Eucharistic life.
How often do we experience that we don’t have enough time to spend as much time as we want in front of Jesus Eucharist or to pray with our brothers; at camp, there is a grace that is repeated every year: at the center even physically of the camp, the reference point of everything and everyone is the tent of the Blessed Sacrament, exposed 24/7; the Eucharist as the fixed point of the day, well celebrated and shared with so many brothers; every day we experience either charismatic community prayer or praise.
It’s a vacation, but it’s not just a vacation
In our complicated lives, we need rest: at camp there is time for that too!
How many times have we experienced other vacations instead, from which we returned more tired than before!
Many of us can testify that we come back from community camp filled with new strength, vigor and joy even if we have served our brothers and sisters or struggled with the precariousness and some discomfort that is often present in camp life.
It is an experience that began almost “by accident” some forty years ago and continues to this day.
At camp, many have encountered God, changed their lives, found their own vocational path, got to know the community!
This year, why don’t you try to come too?
We invite you to Paestum from July 27 to August 23, 2019:
we will be there.
