II National Conference in Romania
On May 15-16, 2010, the Fraternities and Prayer Groups of the Magnificat Community of Romania celebrated their 2nd National Convention. By now the tradition is being traced that every year, on or near Pentecost, a “family” gathering is organized to be a time of mutual acquaintance and fellowship, as well as a time of deepening our specific calling in the Magnificat Community, and as such, in the local churches of Romania.
This year the theme was“Heavenly Jerusalem – Holy City“(Rev. 21:9-14) and the teachings were given by Marco Corradi (Fraternity of Marsciano), who, together with his wife, Anna Maria, and their third-generation daughter Giulia, also offered a living testimony of a family engaged in the life of the Community.
The conference, held near Bucharest in the Discalced Carmelites’ guest house, was attended by about 136 people including allies, novices, friends and disciples, including some guests. The Eucharistic Celebration was presided over by H. E. Msgr. Cornel Damian, Auxiliary Bishop of Bucharest, who both in his homily and final speech assured the Magnificat Community of his support and of his confidence. “I feel in communion with you and we are happy to have you in our Church,” the Bishop said, among other things.
To date, the Magnificat Community in Romania consists of FraternityMisericordia in Bucharest, Fraternity-in-Training Shalom in Bacau, and two other prayer groups founded in the cities of Popesti-Leordeni and Ramnicu-Valcea.
