IV National Conference in Romania

On the Solemnity of Pentecost – as has been the case for four years now – the Fraternities and prayer groups of the Magnificat Community in Romania gather to experience a weekend of communion and prayer. This year, between May 25-27, at the Discalced Carmelite Monastery located near Bucharest, 156 brothers and sisters participated in the 4th National Convention of the Magnificat Community in Romania.

Present were those who already make a path in the Community in the realities of Bucharest, Bacau, Popesti- Leordeni, Ramnicu-Valcea and Alba-Iulia. As guests we also had a group of people from Cluj-Napoca, who wanted to get to know our Community.

From Italy came Massimo Roscini with Daniela Saetta and Giuseppe Piegai with Tiziana Domini. The Holy Mass on the vigil of Pentecost was presided over by the auxiliary bishop of Bucharest, Msgr. Cornel Damian. During the Mass, in front of the Moderator General, in the presence of the bishop and the assembled Community, our sister Agneza Timpu renewed the vow of chastity she made for the first time three years ago, and another allied sister, Elena Barberu, made it for the first time.

Mamo, Joseph and Daniela gave the three catecheses, all centered on this year’s theme, “Let us build the temple of God!” (cf. Ephesians 2:22).

Moments of praise prayer, moments of fraternity and testimonies, as well as moments of listening to the Word created the Cenacle atmosphere; however, the moment that most touched the participants was the prayer vigil with Eucharistic adoration after dinner on Saturday. Currently, the Magnificat Community in Romania consists of the “Misericordia” Fraternity in Bucharest, the “Shalom” Fraternity in formation in Bacau, and prayer groups in Popesti-Leordeni, Rm. Valcea and Alba-Iulia. As members on the way, Romania counts in all these realities: 18 allies, 16 friends, 19 novices, about 32 de people currently in the School of Community and about 40 disciples.
