The Fraternity of Magione wins the 2017 TuscanyMagnificup!
It is the fraternity of Magione that won the first edition of MagnifiCUP in the Tuscany area, winning 6 to 3 against the fraternity of Marti
Under a pouring rain, on the field of the San Leo Oratory in Arezzo, the first edition of the MagnifiCUP in the Tuscany area was held, thanks to the stubborn will of Matteo Campani and Giacomo Orsini, who have been working on the organization of this special “community day” for two years.
The match was masterfully directed by experienced referee Mauro Mariani, who also led the initial prayer in the midfield with both teams.
The two fraternities faced each other head-to-head in two 30-minute halves. Magione immediately highlighted the qualities of the younger boys, who with speed and quality scored four goals in the space of 20 minutes; the time it took for Marti to find the right set-up, and repot with a double by Matteo Campani, at the end of the first half on the score of 4-2 for Magione.
In great depletion were Magione’s two goalkeepers, Andrea Orsini and Francesco Cangiano, who literally shut down all hope of the numerous shots toward the goal directed by Marti’s willing fraternity team.
The game was more balanced in the second half, and Marti goalkeeper Daniele Donnarumma (excellent last name for the role) also made numerous interventions to safeguard his fraternity’s goal.
But it was still the Magione fraternity that scored two more fine goals with its youth, with its captain Giacomo scoring a hat trick.
Captain Matteo Campani’s nose injury inexorably put a damper on the feeble hopes of the “blue”; only in the last five minutes, when he returned, was he able to score the very last goal that fixed the score at 6-3.
The game was beautiful, nine goals and a lot of joy to be together; in front of a large and noisy audience, not at all intimidated by the thick rain, this first edition of the MagnifiCUP Tuscany was celebrated. (in Umbria it has been held for years with all the fraternities in the Perugia area).
The day continued with a community lunch and some time together where the two fraternities got to comment on the game and more.
Here is the game scorecard.
