Father Rino Bartolini, on this Eighth Centenary of the Stigmatization of Francis of Assisi, has published for Magnificat Community Editions a valuable book entitled As Burning Coal of the Seraphim. Beginning with the eyewitness accounts of those who saw them in the hours before the Poverello’s funeral (from the“jurors” of the Commune of Assisi, to the friars; from his companions to St. Clare and her nuns), the author takes us into the mystery of the “Stigmata.” Cardinal Bassetti wrote: “I read with real pleasure your valuable writing which I found really interesting, well documented and exhaustive; therefore I encourage its publication“.
