Living Presence

It is a great occasion to praise and thank our Lord Jesus on Sunday, September 15, 2024, when we will celebrate the four decades since the Magnificat Community restored to worship two abandoned places in the city of Perugia: the churches of San Manno and Madonna della Luce.

The first, with an exciting story of God-which we invite you to discover here-has become the central location of the Community’s headquarters: there, today, we worship Jesus day and night.

The second, in the very central and ancient Via dei Priori, was entrusted to the Community so that it could, continuously, worship Jesus there every day.

The Community thus organized an event aimed at all citizens of Perugia: an afternoon to share and witness-in an atmosphere of celebration and simplicity-the face of the Community, which wants to be a Living Presence in the city, according to its vocation to Contemplation andAction.

The event will begin with a talk by Card. Gualtiero Bassetti, will then continue with a catechesis by Fr. Luigi Maria Epicoco and then with some significant testimonies.

The charitable activities of the Magnificat Foundation.

The talk by Prof. Mirko Santanicchia – associate professor of Medieval Art History at the Department of Humanities – Ancient and Modern Languages, Literatures and Civilizations at the University of Perugia – will present some aspects related to the history of the convent and the small church, which stand on an Etruscan hypogeum, linked to the experience of the Knights of the Holy Sepulcher.

The artistic significance of Our Lady of Light will also be illustrated.

The event, sponsored by the city, the Department of Humanities of the University and the Diocese of PerugiaCittà della Pieve, will be held at theAuditorium of San Francesco al Prato.
