Surprise at the campsite

BIG SURPRISE AT THE CAMPSITE!

This year at the campsite we were greeted with a huge surprise! A loggerhead sea turtle Caretta Caretta shortly before dawn on June 12 arrived on the beach of Camping Village Paestum – right where the beach umbrellas usually stand – and deposited 75 eggs! This is the first report this year on the Cilento coast, the only turtle destination in our peninsula (besides the islands).

The nest, which is very close to the shoreline, was moved further back – to protect it from storm surges – by experts from the Anton Dohm Center in Naples, who will sleep next to the nest the last few days to watch the hatching, scheduled for July 29 to August 2

75 turtles will be born on the beach of our campsite in a few days!!! How wonderful!!!
