The statute between 2013 and 2023
As for me and my house,
Joshua 24, 15
we will serve the Lord
Between 2013 and 2020, the Community, because of its growth and internationalization, at the urging of Monsignor Gualtiero Bassetti, Archbishop of Perugia, began a dialogue with the Pontifical Council for the Laity for recognition by a Vatican body rather than a diocesan one.
A new commission was established that worked broadly and aimed at the involvement of all allies. At the end of this long process of reflection, in the fall of 2020, the Community submitted a text of Statutes for approval by the Dicastery for the Laity, Family and Life, which replaced the former Pontifical Council.
In 2021 a diaologue was established between the Community and the Dicastery fianlized to the final approval of the Community and its Statute.
In May 2023, Cardinal Kevin J. Farrell, Prefect of the Dicastery for the Laity, Family and Life, reported that the draft statutes under consideration by the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith, did not reveal any doctrinal problems.
On Oct. 19, 2023, Cardinal Farrell, in a letter addressed to Moderator General Maria Rita Castellani, informed the Community that the Dicastery over which he presides had resolved to proceed with the recognition of the Magnificat Community as an international association of the faithful, approving its Statutes, ad experimentum, for five years.
On the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Dec. 8, 2023, the Decree of Approval was signed by Cardinal Kevin Farrell, Prefect of the Dicastery for the Laity, Family and Life.
