a particular manifestation
of the Spirit
for the common good

1Corinthians 12:7

The Magnificat Community was born in the stream of grace of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal, the fruit of the rediscovery of Pentecost in the Church that occurred after the Council.

The foundational experience of belonging to the Magnificat Community is that of theoutpouring of the Holy Spirit, which leads to an awareness of the ordinary and extraordinary charisms that – in this very difficult time for the world – God has willed to make superabundant.

Since its inception, the Magnificat Community has witnessed the relevance of Joel’s prophecy: “After this, I will pour out my spirit over every man, and your sons and daughters will become prophets; your elders will have dreams, your young men will have visions. Even over the slaves and over the female slaves in those days I will pour out my spirit. I will perform wonders in heaven and on earth ” (3, 1-3).

The Community also was able to see how the Lord bestowed on each “a particular manifestation of the Spirit for the common benefit: to one is granted by the Spirit the language of wisdom; to another the language of science; to one faith by the same Spirit; to another the gift of doing healings by the one Spirit; to one the power of miracles; to another the gift of prophecy; to another the gift of discerning spirits; to another the varieties of tongues; to another finally the interpretation of tongues. But all these things it is the one and the same Spirit who works them, distributing them to each as he wills “(1 Corinthians 12:7-11). Aware that it is not the repository for itself of the gifts entrusted to it, desiring to build the Kingdom of God, the Community offers to the Church whatever its pastors see in it that genuinely comes from the Spirit, so that they may dispose of it with freedom.
